SELF-SHOOTING DIRECTOR PRODUCER
Taking a story from idea to screen takes more than just technical skill. It calls for empathy, discipline, and a strong commitment to truth. With a degree in Social Anthropology from the London School of Economics and over ten years of self-shooting, directing, and international production experience, I connect thorough research with powerful visual storytelling. My approach stands out because I blend creative vision with honesty, discipline, and joy. For documentary directors and producers, I offer trauma-aware, non-extractive field direction and editing systems that shape large archives into clear, compelling stories.
For NGOs, research groups, and educational institutions, I translate complex academic data, environmental policy, and human rights work into engaging and accessible visuals, while keeping the message urgent and relevant. I speak four languages—English, Portuguese, French, and Italian—and manage finances and logistics with tools like Xero and FreeAgent, as well as multi-site shoots. This means I bring both artistic sensitivity and reliable operations to every project. Whether I’m handling high-pressure shoots or detailed edits, I make sure your project is delivered with depth, integrity, and precision.
My approach to filmmaking is informed by years of working alongside NGOs, research institutes, and vulnerable communities across Latin America and the UK. From documenting refugee journeys and military coups to exploring personal trauma, mental health, and climate justice, I prioritise non-extractive, collaborative and decolonial frameworks that build deep, enduring trust. Filmmaking, to me, is most powerful when it investigates, empowers and resonates with different communities and audiences.
I view documentary filmmaking as a collaborative, non-extractive partnership rather than a transaction, ensuring that vulnerable contributors, trauma narratives, and diverse community voices are represented with dignity, safety, and absolute integrity. I embed duty-of-care practices, trauma-informed communication, and mental health support directly into my production and post-production workflows. By establishing transparent boundaries and deep trust from day one, I create spaces where authentic storytelling can flourish naturally. As a multilingual professional fluent in English, Portuguese, French, and Italian, I bridge cultural and academic contexts, translating complex human experiences into compelling visual cinema.
Approach: Decolonial Ethics & Trauma-Informed Storytelling
Creative inspirations
Born in Japan to a Scottish Indian mother and a French father, I grew up in Italy and later lived in the UK and Brazil. This multicultural background has given me a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives and a lifelong search for belonging, which I bring to collaborative creative projects. I enjoy working with partners from diverse backgrounds and love the co-creation aspect of the creative process.
I am especially drawn to stories and collaborations that explore radical change with empathy, both personal and collective, around mental health, migration, identity politics, artistic collaboration, and healing. For me, storytelling is both a craft and a way to process life’s complexities and build connections across borders.
Since moving to Scotland in 2021, I have further developed my storytelling skills, receiving support from the Scottish Documentary Institute and Screen Scotland. My recent work includes the short documentary “The Tomorrow That’ll Come” which premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. I am currently developing the feature documentary “Thread,” which explores migration, intergenerational identity, and belonging through the relationship between two women. The project is in production and seeking UK or Scottish co-production partners, as well as collaborators interested in documentary, archival research, and cross-cultural storytelling.
If you’re interested in collaborating on meaningful, boundary-crossing projects, I’d love to connect and explore what we can create together. Please feel free to reach out to me by email by using the contact form on my website to start a conversation.
